I am committed to building a stronger Dallas County through transparency and community-driven solutions.

Fair Taxation

We need policies that help workers, seniors, and the middle class. All of Dallas County deserves safe neighborhoods, affordable housing, top-rated public schools, access to parks, libraries, and quality day care as well as high-quality roads, utilities, hospitals, and police and fire protection.

My Platform

Healthy Communities

Iowans deserve clean water and accurate information on health issues like childhood immunizations. As a mother and grandmother, I support public health measures that keep our children safe.

Property Rights & Smart Growth

Eminent domain should not be used to benefit private companies, and communities need local control, not mandates from the statehouse. We need to support both our suburban and rural communities to expand economic opportunities for all.

Meet Julie Bautista

I’m a 6th generation Iowan. My family has farmed in Adair County since 1869. Although 157 years have passed, I still honor their ideals of being a good neighbor, valuing education, and taking care of our land and water.

I was born in Des Moines, grew up in Peoria, Illinois, and came back to Iowa to go to Drake University. After graduating, I moved to Kansas City and then to Denver. In 2014, I moved back to Clive to open a business and to help my aging parents. My story is like a lot of Iowans. I returned home because of family.

In 2015, two of my three daughters followed me to Iowa because housing was much cheaper and our schools had a great reputation. My grandchildren now live in Waukee. But today, the housing isn’t as cheap, and our public schools are underfunded. Dallas County, however, is still a bright spot. We are the fastest growing county in the Midwest, and we have a lot to offer residents and businesses.

I have almost 40 years of experience in marketing and management in industries including healthcare, banking, local government, chamber of commerce, and small business. As a small business owner, I learned to balance the books and make hard decisions. These skills allowed me to retire early.

Now I want to use this experience to help my community. My decisions for the 5th District and Dallas County will be based on listening to residents as well as experts and doing what is best for my neighbors.
